Latest revision as of 16:34, 19 January 2015

Third Name: t'Feiahn
First Name: Nalah
Second Name: i-Harkan
Species: Rihannsu (Romulan)
Age: 52 (due to Rihannsu longevity, this makes her biologically equivilant to a human in their mid to late 20s)
Gender: Female
Home World: ch'Havran (Remus, on one of the Romulan terminator cities called Harkan)
Profession: Scientist, primarily a Radiology officer in the Republic (focusing on both particle and electromagnetic radiation) but also has education and training as a Biochemist (with minor medical skills).
((Note on ch'Havran: while all Remans are from Remus, Romulans also lived there too. Canon established Remans evolved in the darkness of the mines on the tidally locked planet, so it is possible Romulans lived in more lit areas, possibly the terminator regions if the planet was tidally locked to the star Eisn, which fits the movie descriptions. Being tidally locked to Romulus would make more sense scientifically and most books imply Remus is similar but less lush than Romulus; thus, I am compromising with the idea of terminator cities, which is a sci-fi concept I have injected to this. Terminator is where day and night meet and on a tidally locked planet this would be a non-changing ring area of the planet where temperatures are not too extreme either way.))
Character Rank: Arrain* (Republic Lieutenant, equivalent to Starfleet Lieutenant, wears no shoulder rank pauldrons)

  • ((Arrain translates literally to Centurion, which in the classical Imperial system was equivilant to a Starfleet Lieutenant. Since a Republic Centurion is equal to Starfleet LtCmdr I have chosen to refer to both lieutenant and centurion as Arrain in the Rihannsu form and let the shoulders define the difference. I could have used erie'Arrain but it is really LtJG and it is also difficult to remember. Reference my rank chart in Members discussion for details.))

Military History and Distinctions: Beyond Imperial Serona service, individual does not have any notable military distinctions, being a recent recruit to Republic Militia.
Service Record (To include history prior to Republic Fleet if applicable): Serves Imperial Serona during her formative years on ch'Havran, elects not to join War College but study biochemistry at a civilian school.
After family moves to Artalerih she expands studies to include Radiology, specifically high energy radiation from both particulate and electromagnetic sources.
Is briefly considered as a Tal Shiar recruit due to her specialties which spurs the move away from one of the Capital worlds by the family. Family ties in the Tal'Diann keep the Tal Shiar at bay until they lose interest.
Much later S'Feiahn family relocates and allies with Romulan Republic on mol'Rihan (New Romulus) spurring her to finally enter military service in the Repubic as a Radiation science officer (focusing mostly on technology and ship work, but also some biological due to her expertise).

Starship Name: Current awaiting full time ship assignment, inbetween ships.
Starship Class: N/A
Referral (If Applicable): No personal reference, though ACI has become recognized among mol'Rihan command.
Brief Biography:

Adopted daughter of House S'Feiahn on ch'Havran (Remus) before the destruction of the two worlds. She grew up as a commoner whose mother, stranded by a father Nalah never met in the city of Harkan turned to theft to survive. One day trying to steal from the house of Gehen tr'Feiahn her mother was caught and forced to fight her way out, wounding the youngest son of the family. Gehen tracked Nalah's mother down and found her and Nalah. He had ch'Havran authorities arrest Nalah's mother and as an act of mnhei'sahe Gehen adopted the 6 year old Nalah, fully incorporating the young girl into his family so that her birth mother would never see her again (this is a form of legally respected revenge).

Nalah rarely remembers her birth mother due to her young age when last seeing her, but she remembers she lived in a form of poverty that was very unhealthy. As such she doesn't regret the S'Feiahn family for adopting her, even if it was a form of revenge (such customs not being unheard of in Rihannsu soceity) and now regards her birth mother with little interest and assumes she died on ch'Havran after the Hobus supernova destroyed it. In turn she has a lot of love for her adopted family whom by Rihannsu customs treat her equally as they do their blood children. Nalah is however the youngest of them and thus not in a high position in the house. After her Serona she chose not to enter into Imperial military service but study biochemistry. Her education finishing after the move to Artaleirh, a rather wealthy world, she found she could afford a secondary focus and found an interest in radiation sciences as well, tying it into her biochemical background. Ultimately her degrees would give her a higher education in radiology which is now cited as her primary field. Unlike most Rihannsu she found alien biochemistry somewhat interesting and studied what information Imperial records had on file but it was limited due to general lack of public interest. She thought on and off about some type of service to get on a ship to see more alien life, but the Empire was more interested in itself at the time, or fighting any other species.

Like most Romulans do, she mulled that decision for the better part of a decade, then ceased thinking about it when she began thinking about personal affairs such as starting her own family (roughly at the age of 40 was a common time for such thoughts). However the only suitable bond mate she liked ended up being killed during the campaigns that led Sela to take over the Empire. House S'Feiahn had little respect for Sela and when the Romulan Republic formed they decided to secede to the new nation on mol'Rihan. Here Nalah found a society more open to alien life and decided to join the Militia as a science officer to gain opportunities to mix with more alien life (mostly to study them, she still holds classical Romulan ideals of superiority, but she is far too polite to say so out loud). Her official job is Radiation specialist working with both natural and artificial causes of radiation, often assisting engineers and tactical officers with technology such as ship equipment and weapons where needed. Also worked with medical systems where her radiology and biochemistry knowledge overlapped.

Nalah's personality comes off as extremely polite sometimes, and she acts rather happy. This is partly due to her scientific curiosity being bolstered by working around species from the Federation and at times the KDF (though she spends less time with them.. her politeness doesn't mesh). Many humans find her refreshing compared to many other Romulans due to her outward personality and lack of pronounced superiority, which she purposefully curbs for social reasons. Other Rihannsu often joke she has a noticeable rustic accent due to growing up on ch'Havran where the terminator areas supported many farmlands (she actually grew up in a suburb after adoption). Most Federation species as usual can't tell the difference between most Romulan accents, but some say it sounds a bit like southern European accents.
