The USS Lor'Vela, NCC-92946, was a Galaxy-class starship under the command of Captain Ilara Zhal in the early 25th century. The ship carried the name of an Andorian historical figure who created the social order that permitted Andoria to be united in peace after millenia of devastating wars.
The Lor'Vela was presumed lost in 2410 when she and her crew went missing during an exploration cruise. The stardrive section of the ship made contact with the Alpha Centauri Institute months later and reported an encounter with two species in conflict, one of which was the Oinu - a lost relative race to Vulcans and Romulans. The other was the Morlatta, beings whose ancestors were Oinu subjected to genetic modification.
The Lor'Vela was met and escorted back to Federation space by the USS Speedwell. The Lor'Vela's crew revealed that Captain Zhal had stayed behind in the saucer section of the vessel to guard the main body's retreat and save the lives of as many crew as possible. Captain Zhal and her remaining offcers were later rescued by an ACI Task Force and the Lor'Vela reconstructed using the saucer section from a vessel whose stardrive was lost.
